Walter Sobcek: New Single

The illustrious Parisian based Walter Sobcek is back with his single “Miami.” We fell for Walter awhile back with “Traci’s Party,” still one of my most favorite discoveries. Walter is one of the first underground artists we posted about when we first started forthebeat nearly 2 years ago and we feel we’ve grown up right alongside him, only in this fantasy, we’re 16 and Walter Sobcek is our cooler older 20 year old brother, whose always out on the beach somewhere getting into trouble and throwing parties that start when its getting light out early in the morning.

The latest single is out on London’s Schmooze Records (Chilly Gonzales). Purchase link below.

Walter Sobcek- New Remix

walter sobcek

I fell in love with this Parisian wonder Walter Sobcek a few years back  when I first heard “Traci’s Party.” WS  just released some new material which includes a remix of Keren Ann’s “My Name is Trouble.” We had the pleasure of asking Walter Sobcek a few questions, here’s what he had to say:

- Is the new song part of your next EP?

The new song is a remix of Keren Ann, a french singer-songwriter we really love. Her album is now released in the U.S. We are currently finalizing our our new EP featuring two new tracks and three remixes. It’s called “Miami” and will be out in the early summer.

- Where can U.S. fans buy “Traci’s Party” and your other remixes?

For the moment, they are all available for listening on our Soundcloud.

- Who is Walter Sobcek and where are you based?

Walter Sobcek is a duo and we share our time between Paris, Berlin and Miami.

- Are you still in love with ‘Chelsea’ (from Walter Sobcek’s original bio)?

We are just starting to tell Walter’s story. The EP “Miami” will be the beginning of his adventures.

- What’s next?

We will be recording our follow-up mini album which should be set for release towards the end of the year. We’ll also be doing some DJ sets around France and later, the U.S.

Walter Sobcek –> Part Deux

I’ve been a fan of Walter Sobcek for awhile now. He was one of my favorite little Parisian discoveries and I will stick with him 4life. His remixes and originals are fantastic, check out his Phoenix 1901 remix but what is even better is his original track, “Traci’s Party” which I absolutely love. His new tune is a cover of Hall and Oates “She´s Gone”.  While I love the tune, I love the video Walter did even more.

The video is set to the John Hughes 1991 film Career Opportunities, whose tagline is He took the job that no one wanted…and got the girl that everyone did, which fits into Walter’s world perfectly.* This video is a truly entertaining match to the beat Walter perfects himself.

Walter Sobcek – She’s Gone

*If you don’t know Walter’s story, it’s simple: Walter Sobcek is a man. He likes girls like Traci Lords or Marilyn Jess. However, he is in love with Chelsea. A 20 year old girl. She is blonde. She is beautiful. She left him. To forget her, Walter also left.

Electronic pop from France seems to be my favorite flavor these days.  Here’s another one to add to the list: a new duo called Walter Sobcek.

This is how Walter describes himself, in French and in English below — better in French…

“Walter Sobcek est un garcon. Il aime les filles, comme Traci Lors ou Marylin Jess.  Neanmoins, il est amoureux de Chelsea. Une fille de 20 ans. Elle est blonde, elle est belle, elle est partie……”

“Walter Sobcek is a man. He likes girls. He likes Traci Lords. However, he is in love with Chelsea. A 20 year old girl. She is blonde. She is beautiful. She left him. To forget her, Walter also left…”

One of my favorites is “Traci’s Party.”  I love the name.  I love the jam.  I am thinking I love Walter…here it is for your listening pleasure, as well as a remix of Phoenix’s “1901″:
