NazcarNation Remix

Kathryn, My Love is a track off of the debut full length “Eternity Spin” from ambient-pop Texas based Pandit, (who has also collaborated with Star Slinger.)

NazcarNation recently did a remix of this track and it takes it to a whole new place, particularly towards the second half that feels like a spaceship ride at Disney Land that lands you in the giant foam pit. The video featuring the original is below as well..

What is a pandit? I’ll tell  you: A pandit is a scholar, a teacher, particularly one skilled in Sanskrit language. In the original usage of the word, “Pandit”, refers to a Hindu, almost always a Brahmin, who has memorized a substantial portion of the Vedas, along with the rhythms and melodies for chanting  verses or singing them during rituals.

MNDR

I first saw MNDR at Mercury Lounge last year and had mixed feelings. She’s energetic and entertaining live, but for some reason I wasn’t totally convinced. My thoughts have tilted the other way with some of her recent material. And how can you really deny those glasses and that hair cut? Check out “I Go Away” and a remix of the song below. She also just released a video for the track in the beginning of April…

Star Slinger /Hard Mix 7″

Star Slinger and Hard Mix announced a few months ago that they are doing a  7″ split. The time is almost upon us, with the official release date February 7th, but you can pre-order from the limited 300 copies now.

This is the third release from Double Denim Records, the first was Blackbird Blackbird and the second Seapony. Awesome track record, l it er a l l y.

New Artist: Star Slinger

I like songs that sound like your CD is skipping or there’s something fucked up with your ipod.  Star Slinger‘s remixes and originals are certainly not all like that but as soon as I heard his stuff I got really really wide-eyed jump-up-and-down excited.

Star Slinger is instrumental hip hop goodness, Manchester based Producer named Darren and  samples everything from child-fronted reggae to 80′s rock. His debut 11 track album is out now for free at www.starslinger.net. Best free thing I have gotten in awhileeee.

I usually recommend a few tracks to listen to if you’re first discovering an artist but not with this one, no, no go crazy. Really, go bananas. I love all of them. Here’s one of his remixes called Dutchie Courage:
