your new fix…

Your new fix? Oh yes. Pixel Fix is the Oxford foursome – new EP out on itunes Feb 24th… I’m not going to pick apart their sound because forthebeat posts what we love – plain and simple – but their bold debut track “Fall” is remixed by The Walton Hoax- who takes a dreamy electro track  (love the vocals) and makes it even dreamier. But make no mistake – this is anything but your typical chill wave/electro band – Pixel Fix is a mix of genres/styles/and sounds and I’m loving every track we come across…

Check out Pixel Fix’s “Awake” and also “Rosa” – read our favorite write-up on Rosa from Sounds Better With Reverb

A little about The Walton Hoax : I couldn’t find too much! This guy has been around since ’11/electronic/and has excellent twitter manners. I also love his name – I would love to be The Steph Lund Hoax – so please any band out there feel free to name your band that..

Watch these two …hoping they get some major well-deserved buzz this year

as long as you’re cool

Wolf Alice are a four-piece alternative rock band from North London. Members: Ellie Rowsell, Joel Amey, Joff Oddie and Theo Ellis. They released their debut single “Fluffy” in February 2013, the “Bros” single followed this in May.

But if you ask us…tracks “White Leather” and “Blush” are among our favorite tracks of 2013. Go listen and watch the beautiful – yes beautiful- performance below of “Blush”

cause the things that make me search for so long
Yeah it hurts to think that they can still go on
I’m happy now
Are you happy now?

Played Around With Your Heart

How obsessed can I be with this on a scale of 1 to a billion ? <3 <3 <3 <3 goddess.

I pushed your head over my heels until I pushed too far.

Wolf Alice

Wolf Alice. big sigh. reminds me of when I first fell for Julianna Hatfield. This foursome are from London.Wolf-Alice1

White Leather is off of their B sides from newly released EP, Fluffy. Its one of those songs that takes you away to distant memories of late nights and fuzzy mornings. Ellie Roswell is the lead and her voice is soothing and emotional without evoking anything overly painful…theres a sweetness she keeps to it…I forget where I read this but a recent blog mentioned it was about rejection, I guess you could see it that way.

Can’t wait until they announce U.S. tour dates – for now all UK…

our new posts “have you heard of” spotlights tracks you need to listen to – now – according to who? just us. ok? us.

so yea lets start with Pocono. Have you heard of Pocono? Nashville based. Nice catchy really just nice tunes. Makes us think of – girls in boots and flannels. Opened shirts, not buttoned, on the dance floor, beer bottle in hand swaying to “Candelight”

We listened once – instant like. We listened twice – very sexy. into it. Self – titled EP out Feb 19th. Check more of their songs and info here.

Cant. Stop. Repeating.

I can’t stop repeating this – I have tried. I have tried to press ‘next’ on my HypeM playlist but I just cant and I have resolved that its ok that I have played this remix over 50 times in the last two days.

Erol Sabadosh is known for his amazing mash ups and remixes of pop and dance tracks, I’ve seen him at London W before and his energy is amazing.

Listen to the man here and if you ever want to book him for your next party or event –

Exclusive Mixtape from Danger Village

The ‘January 2013 The Future is Now’ Mix

Beth Martinez of Danger Village produced an exclusive mixtape for forthebeat and its f-ng rad. A few artists we already loved, and a few more this tape made us love even more, with of course some under the radar ones you should google & start stalking asap. Thanks Danger Village- excited to check some of your acts out at sxsw.

In their own words:

I wanted to make a mix for the start of the year to showcase what sounds we’re excited about for in 2013.  We’re especially enthused about female artists coming to the forefront more than ever recently, so this mix ended up being top-heavy with lady-fronted acts.

I’m in love with the bombastic sounds coming out of Scandinavia, full of compelling vocals and stellar synth craft of which the NO WAV production team seems to be leading the pack.  We’re stoked to see the rise of new producers like Disclosure and Ryan Hemsworth finding an audience for what they’re doing – pioneering a form of majestic sounds that combine an excellent ear for hooks with music that’s traditionally been regulated to the underground dance floor.

While the ladies are taking the lead on soaring vocal outpourings, we’re seeing a new wave of emotional ballads from songwriters like Tom Odell and Deptford Goth.  Our mix represents musicians from around the world who are finding ways to recraft tired genres into new and exciting music.  We’re happy to see that the artform of songwriting hasn’t been lost beneath all the fascinating sounds happening in the studio cutting room.
