London calling all songs for mixtapes

“Eventually every person on Earth will have the history of music readily streaming through some kind of handheld device. It will be awesome to have so much at our fingertips. But we will still need someone to tell us where to start. In the past, this might have been a DJ, a critic or a sibling—in the future it might be an algorithm. It might also be artists like Theophilus London who, by luck, get to a song a second before we do and pass it on to us with a little bit of themselves attached.”
That’s what Fader said in a recent feature on Theophilus London that you can find here.
Theophilus London is a Brooklyn rapper, song writer, producer and mixtape master, who blends the genres of electro, hip-hop, pop, and soul. The first mixtape Jam! came out last year and the most recent (and notable) This Charming Mixtape debuted in early 2009, available for free download here. Having worked with and remixed artists including The xx, Lykee Li, Vampire Weekend, etc., London is currently working on his debut proper album. He also recently teamed up with Mark Ronson and Sam Sparro to create Ronson’s temporary project/band called Chauffeur, debuting their first single in conjunction with the launch of Ronson’s sneaker design for Gucci.
Here’s my favorite mixtape track (with Jack Penate and Jaime xx) and London’s new single “Humdrum Town” sampling “N.A.S.A.” by Futurecop!
