Your Vegas and U.S. Royalty @ The Studio

Last night, we went to check out our friends Your Vegas, a 5-piece English rock band, currently based in New York.  The night started out with NO COVER and $20 all you can drink.  Thank you The Studio @ Webster Hall for “No Cover Mondays” – a great way to start off the week, not that a drink special was really needed after 4th of July weekend.

U.S. Royalty, a Washington D.C. act that just signed to Engine Room Recordings, opened the show.  These guys were one of the better opening acts we’ve seen in a while, and we’ll certainly be hearing more about them in the near future.  The rest of the summer, they’ll be hitting up small festivals in Kentucky and Illinois, as well as heading back to D.C. to play a hometown show.  Be sure to check out their EP Midsommar due out on August 25th, available digitally and on 7″ vinyl.  Right now, take a look at the new video for their song Raincoats here: Nylon Magazine video for Raincoats

Then, sounding a bit like actual Vegas native and The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, Coyle Girelli took the stage with his band Your Vegas and played for a crowd of New York City fans who have been waiting for an opportunity to catch this act live.  Having already established a big following in their native England, Your Vegas has recently gained recognition in the U.S., touring with The Bravery, Duran Duran and Shiny Toy Guns over the past two years – pretty sweet gigs.  However, they haven’t had a lot of time to play in their adopted hometown.  Focusing now on recording their second album, Your Vegas will be devoting time this summer to debuting new material at a bunch of shows in NYC, including an acoustic run at Rockwood Music Hall.

After a great set, the boys left the stage, but came back out to rock a cover of Cindi Lauper’s “I Drove All Night” for their encore.  Yes, the song was originally written for Roy Orbison, and Celine Dion also covered it.  Well, add Your Vegas to the list.

Finally, because a day doesn’t go by when we don’t find a great remix, check out In My Head (WeRD2 Remix).
